On August 22nd 2017 members of the Smithfield Police Detective Division executed a search warrant at 10A Cedar Swamp Rd., Glassco Smoke Shop. During an extensive investigation, an undercover police officer purchased numerous edible items containing controlled substances from Michael Brickey, age 30, of 4 Crandal Rd. Johnston, at Glassco Smoke Shop.
Mr. Brickey, the proprietor of the business, offered for sale edible and consumable items which contained the chemical compounds THC and CBD, which are considered schedule 1 narcotics. Seized during the search warrant are the following items; oils, powders, and other edibles including gummy candy, lollipops, and popcorn.
Mr. Brickey was charged with (3), three counts delivery of a controlled substance to an undercover police officer, and (1), one count possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Mr. Brickey also has an outstanding warrant out of Pawtucket, with the Pawtucket Police Department for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
He was brought before Bail Commissioner George Lazieh for a special arraignment, held overnight at the ACI, and is scheduled to appear in Kent County District Court on Wednesday, August 23rd 2017, to answer the charges.
