Media Release: Smithfield Police Investigate Assault with a Knife

Smithfield Police DepartmentOn September 24th, 2015, at approximately 2:53 AM, Smithfield Police responded to the parking lot of 935 Douglas Pike for a report of a disturbance in progress. On scene, police located an intoxicated female, identified as Klinisha Neal, age 24, of Roxbury Massachusetts. Ms. Neal had sustained what appeared to be non-life threatening stab wounds to her arm and leg. Smithfield Fire & Rescue were dispatched and responded to treat her injuries.

Ms. Neal reported to police that she had been stabbed with a knife by a female subject known to her, following an argument between the two. The two women and a male subject had been traveling together in a vehicle, and had just left the Twin River Casino. The argument continued in the Douglas Pike parking lot, where the three subjects were approached by a security guard. The female suspect and unidentified male subject left the area, prior to police arrival, in what was described as a dark silver Toyota four-door sedan, with Massachusetts license plates.

Police alerted surrounding communities and the Massachusetts State Police to the incident. Initial attempts to locate the vehicle and suspects were unsuccessful. Ms. Neal was transported by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital for her injuries. Smithfield Police Detectives responded to the scene. The investigation continues.
