National Grid will be conducting a leakage survey in Smithfield. Federal regulations require that National Grid or an assigned qualified representative inspect the gas piping up to and including the meter(s).Premier Utility Services (a division of Willbros Group, Inc.) has been hired to conduct the leakage survey for National Grid. All Premier Utility Services personnel will be required to have National Grid Identifications that contain their picture. The leakage survey is scheduled to begin in April and should last until the end of the year. All surveyors (as of 6/12) have had BCI and drug test clearance.
Grid officials will be going door to door and may be seen walking on private property in order to read outside meters. Those meters that are not accessible. officials will ask for access to the residence to check the meter. Those residents who are not home, a notice will be left in the door.
ALL SURVEY OFFICIALS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR PHOTO IDENTIFICATION
The survey is expected to last until the end of 2013. A list of survey personnel, their dates of births and the vehicles they drive has been submitted to the Police Department. Any questions or concerns can be directed to the Smithfield Police Department at 231-2500.
