On Friday, September 30th, 2016, at 5:13 p.m., the Smithfield Police arrested Dylan J. Harris, 24 yrs. old, on an arrest warrant, charging him with Enticement of a Child and Obstructing an Officer.
On Tuesday morning, September 13th, 2016, Smithfield Police took a report of a missing juvenile. Later that evening, the juvenile was located in Coventry by the Coventry Police and reunited with her family. Smithfield Detectives learned the juvenile had left the Smithfield residence of relatives and gotten into a vehicle driven by Harris. The juvenile advised detectives she had spoken with Harris on her cell phone and was convinced by Harris to runaway and leave the state with him.
Smithfield Detectives had spoken to Dylan Harris on Tuesday, September 13th, and Harris denied seeing or speaking with the juvenile. When the juvenile was found in Coventry, she had initially told police she was abducted; a story she was told, by Harris, to tell the police.
Harris was brought before Bail Commissioner Christopher T. Millea and held at the Adult Correctional Unit on $50,000.00 surety bail. On Monday, October 3rd, 2016, Harris appeared in Third District Court before the Honorable Judge Elaine T. Bucci, no plea was entered, bail was set at $20,000.00 surety and Harris is schedule to appear in Superior Court on October 19th, 2016, to answer the charges.
