SPD Detectives Seize 53 Marijuana Plants at Local Home

On Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018, at approximately 9:30 a.m., members of the Smithfield Police Detective Division arrested Brian Carson Ames, age 24, of 111 Farnum Pike, Smithfield.  Carson Ames was charged with Unlawful Manufacturing of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver and Possession of Marijuana. 

Smithfield Detectives received information that Carson Ames was operating an illegal marijuana grow at 111 Farnum Pike.  Smithfield Detectives conducted an investigation, which lead to them obtaining a search warrant for the residence.  Smithfield Detectives seized 53 marijuana plants from the property, approximately 1.68 pounds of marijuana, 1 digital scale, packaging materials, marijuana dabs, and a 20 ton marijuana dab press. 

Carson Ames was taken into custody without incident.  He was held overnight to appear in Kent County District Court on Thursday, October 4th, 2018.
